AROHNE FARM

...the closest we have come to being far away.

We are truly blessed to live here with our companions, Bib'n Tucker, Libby, Carson, Kit, and Granny Cat.  This is home...

Located in north Boone County, three miles from Sturgeon, Five from Centralia, off highway CC, Arohne Farm is the first one on the left.

The gravel road to our house, Spring has sprung and it is time to fix the pot holes.  But  it is such a lovely drive to our home.  It is the most peaceful place we've ever lived...it is not always quiet, but, even with frogs and high winds, it is where we regroup, where we find serenity, and where we are at peace.

The seasons change one to the next before we see it.  Wild flowers push through the red clay into bloom, so quickly having seed for next year.  The grasses grow so tall we watch the trail of waving grass to follow the dogs.  The days to nights go all too quickly; the night sky so black it is a blanket under which we hide without a flashlight.  Then, later... a full moon lights the  night, so bright we mistake for the sun...

Wildlife wanders through with the seasons...The annual visit from the Canadian Geese who settle on our pond and build a nest on the island, always fighting with the Mallards.  Herbie, the Blue Heron, visits at least twice daily to fish the pond.  The turtle lay in the warm sun then disappear into the water.  Deer tracks lead to much used paths to their beds.  Wild Turkeys frustrate the dogs with their prancing about and hiding in the trees.  Coyotes host a howling jam session, waking the dogs to join the party.  Noisy Frogs, one particular Bull Frog conducting, add to the cacophony.  Then there is the Black Snake who lives underneath the red in-need-of paint shed.

There is so very much here...

We simply love to be here, together with all our companions.
