AROHNE FARM . . .

Home is a name, a word, it is a strong one, stronger than magician ever spoke, or spirit ever answered to, in the strongest conjuration.   -- Charles Dickens

Arohne* Farm is our home and is the closest we have come to being far away...

Arohne Farm is l
ocated in North Boone County, Missouri, between Sturgeon and Centralia.  We've lived here since 2002.  We are never bored,  usually because we are always doing something from carrying out the trash to repairing a fence or feeding our animal companions.

We enjoy the quiet of country life.  The croaking of Frogs and  cackle of Geese, the drumming of  Woodpeckers, and the fall of rain in the night --   with the added barking of our dogs, an early warning system against invisible visitors!

We moved here for our dogs -- originally Australian Cattle Dogs -- but now one Australian Cattle Dog, Arohne Liberty Blue (Libby), an AKC Champion, owner handled; and two Standard Manchester Terriers (often confused with MinPins! but totally different).  Their full names are Fantasy Jam Session of Arohne (Jam) and Ambrick's Arohne Oasis of Jazz (Jazz).  And let us not forget the two Muttlee Brudders from the Boone County Humane Society and three Cats, Kit, Carson, and Granny, also from the Humane Society.

The intent of this website is to celebrate our Companions.  We have fun showing in conformation and have started training in obedience.  As we progress in these sports, we'll be bragging about and celebrating all our team  achievements.  Our goal, however, is more than winning.  We want to have a strong relationship with our companions and to have fun together!

*Arohne is pronounced "Our Own" and is the combination of three state abbreviations:  ARkansas, OHio and NEbraska.  Mara is from Arkansas, Lou is from Ohio; we were living in Nebraska when we created our Kennel name.  Since we moved to Missouri on a small acreage, we've started calling it Arohne Farm.
DO YOU LEARN THE HARD WAY, TOO?

This is an article we wrote after a horrid experience with a dog breeder we trusted and who we considered our friend.  We  trusted a handshake instead of insisting on a written contract delineating our agreements.

It was a very hard lesson and we decided to share our experience in the hope of preventing someone else from making the same mistakes.   The purpose of the article is to show why contracts are so important and what makes a good contract.
